What are the psychological effects of meth use?
Q. My ex stopped using meth about a month ago. He has already gained 10 lbs but his behavior is very bizarre. He is living with his Mom and acting like a teenager and dating a girl in high school (he is in his late 20s). Is this type of regression permanent or a typical psychological response to quitting meth?
Asked by Candy H - Sat Jan 17 02:35:13 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. No. Meth use doesn't really make you regress psychologically. But meth is usually cooked in so many different ways and with so many different dangerous chemicals. It destroys so much of the brain, that I wouldn't be too surprised if he destroyed enough brain cells, which led to this behavior. I would say its probably temporary, but it really depends on somethings. How long has he been using? By what means? Was he using straight meth, or was he mixing (taking Yabba or cutting it himself)? Did this happen right after he quit using?
