What College football team won a game by pitching the football down field to score?
Q. What football team won the game by pitching the football all the way down field to score? Tossing the football around, avoiding being tackled; so they pitch the ball to their team mates with little time left, and they went down and scored. I don't know if they did that to win the game or they did that for fun. All i know is that they are a college football team and they scored by pitching the ball around. Does anyone know?

How is flag football even considered an alternative to good ol' American Football?
Q. Think about it. For flag football, you don't need to work out or develop any skills; you just have to be fast and be able to catch. It basically defeats the purpose of any other position player except the fastest positions like receiver and cornerbacks. It kills the point of being able to bench press 400 pounds when all you have to do is be fast. Who agrees with me when I say that flag football is a terrible substitute for tackle football? Or for those of you who prefer flag football to tackle football, why?
Asked by Jay - Sun Jan 18 15:00:33 2009 - - 4 Answers - 4 Comments

A. It is just used by PE classes or organizations who don't want to be sued or held liable for injuries that can occur in tackle football.

What is the best college football movie ever?
Q. Since most of the college football teams begins their football season today, or at some point this Labor Day weekend. I would like to take the time, to ask what is the best college football movie ever. And also please tell me why, you think that movie is the best college football movie ever. The only 2 college football movies that I can think of are Rudy, and We Are Marshall. And I bet there will be people having Rudy on the list, since I bet that it is an old favorite, but will a more of a recent movie We Are Marshall going to be on the list? And I bet that there are some others that I could be forgetting about at the moment.

A. I do sit ups on a incline bench with a 10 lb weight held behind my head. sounds light but its a workout! also try leg lifts, crunches, bycycles and anything else you can think of. like i tell everyone else, there is no magical workout you just have to put in the time.

How did college football teams travel to their away games in the 1860s to 1930s?
Q. I know that the first college football games were more related to rugby and soccer. And the first intercollegiate game was held on November 6, 1869 and was between Rutgers and Princeton. How did the Princeton football team get to Rutgers? How did the other college football teams arrive at their games?
Asked by sammi - Thu Nov 29 16:47:03 2007 - - 15 Answers - 1 Comments

A. I would imagine by train - Rutgers and Princeton both being in NJ would have had train connections. Anyone on your schedule would be withing a 5-6 hour train (and then bus) journey from your school. My dad played football at Linfield in Oregon in the early 1930s and looking at his yearbook, a the folks they played (like Willamette in Salem, Oregon)were a couple of hours away by bus.

Are college football players required to take and do well in classes? How long has this been a requirement?
Q. I need to know if college football players are required to take and do well in college classes (I believe they are, in current times), but even more specifically, I need to know how long this has been a requirement by law or colleges for football players at their schools to do so.

A. Yes they have to take classes. Its always been a requirement. They can take whatever they want. Usually they just take general education classes which are pretty easy. Some of them actually have a major but its also usually a joke like communications.

How do you become a football manager and how competitive is it?
Q. I would love to be a football manager, I have extremely good tactical play and strategical formations that I can pick up instantly and everytime I see a football game I always end up commenting on space that's available or where the ball could/should go etc.. How competitive is it to get into football management without being a proffessional footballer yourself?
Asked by Danny - Mon Dec 28 19:15:28 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. 1. Well... you have to get coaching badges first. It also doesn't hurt having a university degree in either psychology, economy, or sports management. 2. You need to find a job in the lowest league possible and work your way up. If you can't find a job... go to a premier or championship team and become a coach and then work your way up. Good Luck man... it's very competitive.

A. My husbands Cousin played college football. He hit another player so hard that his helmet broke apart. He bruised his brain badly enough that if he had hit someone that hard again it could kill him. So he chose to stop playing football. Other injuries could be torn knees or broken backs.

A. It's not like you show up to practice and your coach makes you decide in secret what you want to do and that's where you're stuck. If you truly don't have a clue, then just go to practice and your coach will decide for you. People here who think they are so wise as to say "running back" have no clue about your team, your schemes, or your coach's philosophies. They are only trying to sound intelligent.

Why do powerhouse college football teams schedule cupcakes if they are SO good?
Q. Aren't you tired of powerhouse college football teams scheduling cupcakes just so they can make sure they get in a BCS game? If they are so good, why don't they prove it by having a strong out of conference schedule? Who else has disgust for this way of scheduling in college football?
Asked by Bryce D - Wed Sep 9 17:14:50 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments

A. I don't think it's that big of a deal. And every powerhouse team does it. It's not like it's just a few teams or one conference in particular...every single "Big 6" team schedules these games, so in that way it's kind of fair. And if a team were to play too many cupcakes and make it to a BCS bowl, they would likely lose to the other team that played better teams, thus the whole situation works itself out anyway. Not to mention that "strength of schedule" is one of the 3 major determining factors is making the weekly AP rankings & bowl selections...

A. I'm assuming you're a senior in high school who's never played Varsity football before. I was in the same boat as you man, my first real year of football (other than a year in the 6th grade), was my senior year of high school and I loved every single minute of it. I ended up starting at cornerback and made 2nd team all-district which really is not bad at all for having never really played football before. To add to that, I was only around 155-160 at the time. All it takes is heart and desire. The best advice I can give you is to hustle your @$$ off every single play in practice. The coaches will notice that. Don't be afraid to ask questions either. If you can show in practice that you're athletic enough to be an asset to the team,… [cont.]
